We encountered many critters large and small at the Adobe Creek crossing covered by camera #1.
Blacktail fawn (still image) and video with its mother:
Initially we identified this bird as a mourning dove, but it might be a
band-tailed pigeon, a related but somewhat larger native bird.
Compare to the band-tailed pigeon we photographed in the same spot in
August 2024.
Opossum, raccoon, and skunk, all photographed crossing the creek at
night.
Three stills and a video of a mountain lion (cougar, puma). This might be the same cat we saw in May in the same spot. All cougar sightings here have occurred between midnight and 4:00 a.m.
Camera #2 covers a convergence of paths on a steep part of the mountain. This month we got a good look at an acorn woodpecker:
And a western fence lizard doing "push-ups" on a log:
There has been some discussion about the ID of this animal. The consensus is that it is an American Badger, the first we have photographed at Lafferty Ranch.
Several night photos and video of a bobcat:
Camera #3 faces a savannah-like meadow on the upper mountain shaded by oak and buckeye trees. We see plenty of deer there, along with other animals such as this coyote:
Camera #4 is in a grove of venerable bay laurel trees near the high point of the property. These two blacktail bucks show antlers in their velvet phase of early summer:
No feral hogs where photographed this month.
